WEST MONTROSE, ONTARIO — A devastating collision on Northfield Drive East has left two people dead and another injured following a crash between a motorcycle and a sedan on Sunday afternoon.
Emergency crews were called to the scene shortly after 3:00 p.m. after reports of a collision involving a maroon motorcycle and a silver sedan. Witnesses said volunteer firefighters and regional paramedics arrived within minutes to assist.
Tragically, the 59-year-old man and 53-year-old woman from Kitchener, who were riding the motorcycle, were both pronounced dead at the scene due to their injuries.
The 61-year-old woman driving the sedan, from Waterloo, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to recover.
The Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Traffic Unit is continuing its investigation into the cause of the crash. Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage from the area to come forward.
The section of Northfield Drive East was temporarily closed for several hours while police conducted their investigation but has since reopened.
