🇨🇦 Ottawans Rally Against Trump in “No Tyrants” Protest

OTTAWA, CANADA — October 2025

Hundreds of protesters gathered in downtown Ottawa on Saturday as part of a global “No Tyrants” protest, a coordinated day of action pushing back against authoritarian leadership and the policies of U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration.

Marchers lined the streets near Parliament Hill, waving signs and chanting slogans denouncing Trump’s recent comments on international trade, immigration, and democratic governance. Some participants wore costumes and masks symbolizing political resistance, with one protester drawing attention for wearing a large papier-mâché Trump head and a shirt reading “MAGA IS A CULT.”

The Ottawa rally was among dozens of demonstrations held across major cities worldwide, including London, New York, Berlin, and Sydney. Organizers described the events as a show of solidarity for democratic values and human rights.

“We’re here to remind our neighbors to the south that Canada stands for freedom, accountability, and truth,” said Sarah McLeod, one of the event’s coordinators. “When democracy is under threat anywhere, it’s under threat everywhere.”

Despite the strong emotions and large turnout, police reported that the demonstration remained peaceful, with no arrests or major incidents. Traffic disruptions were minimal, and officers were seen directing vehicles around the protest route.

The “No Tyrants” movement, which began online earlier this year, calls for vigilance against rising populism and demands stronger protections for press freedom, fair elections, and judicial independence across Western democracies.
