Toronto, ON – September 17, 2025 – Toronto police have arrested three men following a violent home invasion in the city, with authorities revealing that two of the suspects were already out on bail at the time of the crime. Investigators also confirmed that one of the men is connected to a separate home invasion incident in Vaughan.
The suspects, identified as Zachary Boyce, 22, Jacoy Montegue, 21, and Jaykell Watson, were taken into custody after a swift police response. According to reports, the men forced their way into a Toronto residence, leaving residents shaken but fortunately not seriously injured.
Police say this case highlights ongoing concerns about offenders being released on bail while facing serious charges. Community leaders and residents have expressed frustration, arguing that repeat offenders continue to pose risks when granted bail under the current system.
Investigators added that one of the accused has been directly linked to a Vaughan home invasion, raising further alarm about escalating patterns of organized violent crime in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
Toronto Police Service confirmed that charges are now pending against all three men. They face a combination of counts, including:
Breaking and entering
Armed robbery
Assault with a weapon
Breach of bail conditions
Court appearances are scheduled later this week. Authorities continue to investigate possible connections between the group and other recent home invasions across the GTA.
This incident comes as calls grow louder for bail reform across Canada. Critics argue that repeat violent offenders should face stricter detention policies to protect public safety, while others caution that changes must still balance individual rights under the justice system.
